At RMV Rodeo, Bareback World Champ Lacerates Pancreas

Bobby Mote will undergo "extensive rehabilitation" after being injured in the bucking chutes Aug. 27 at the Rancho Mission Viejo Rodeo in San Juan Capistrano.

Bareback rider Bobby Mote, who won his fourth world title last year, broke his ribs and lacerated his pancreas Saturday at the , according to his website.

"Mote is doing well and is expected to be in the hospital all week," his website says. "He is targeting a return to competition at the Wrangler NFR in December and he says he is up for the challenge."

He underwent surgery Monday morning at Seattle Harborview Medical Center.

The Calgary Herald reports that he was injured after being slammed against the bucking chutes Saturday afternoon.

"After electing to ride the horse for 76 points, he flew to Seattle with plans to compete at the North Idaho Fair and Rodeo at Coeur D' Alene on Sunday," the Herald reports. "But, when the plane landed, he was in so much pain that travelling partners Jason Havens and Ryan Gray convinced him to seek immediate medical attention."
