City Alerts Residents of Minor Error in Ballot Measure
An informational pamphlet incorrectly stated the development in question would be located west of Valle Road.
The city is notifying registered voters that there was an error in the of Measure B, which has been corrected.
The analysis, written by the city attorney, was included in the informational pamphlet that was mailed to voters. It indicated that the project would be built west of Valle Road, when in fact it is east of Valle Road.
The City Council on Tuesday opted to send letters notifying residents of the change so they wouldn't be confused when headed to the ballot box June 7. The mailings are expected to cost as much as $6,600.

Corrections have also been made to the official ballots.
The special election will be held June 7 for San Juan Capistrano residents to decide the type of development they'd like to see along La Novia Avenue. The choice is between plans approved in the 1980s for a hotel, public institutional building and 440 homes/apartments; or plans approved in 2010 for a 500-horse equestrian center, 230-plus homes/condos/apartments and a retail/office/commercial center.

As of May 13, the Orange County Registrar of Voters had mailed 8,296 ballots to voters in San Juan Capistrano.
Voters have until 8 p.m. June 7 to return their ballots (postmarks do not count). Polls will also be open throughout the city June 7. Voters can check their sample ballots for the location of their poll site.
