SJC's Jen Kessy Wins Again; Heads for Semis

It wasn't always pretty, but Kessy and beach volleyball partner April Ross defeat a team from Czech Republic. Next up, a possible medal.

San Juan Capistrano’s golden girl, Jennifer Kessy, and her beach volleyball partner April Ross managed to advance Sunday to the semifinal round at the London Olympics, but it wasn’t pretty.

The pair faced a formidable opponent in the Czech Republic’s No. 10 Marketa Slukova and Kristyna Kolocova at Horse Guards Parade. The first set went into overtime, 25-23.

And the second set’s final score was a deceptive 21-18, as the Czech women made up ground from an even bigger deficit.
