Dog Park Grand Opening Finally at Paw, a Movie Night in the Park and More

We dare you to go to all these events in San Juan Capistrano this weekend!

1. It really IS the dog days of summer: The Joe Cortese Memorial Dog Park will open its gates to our four-legged friends tomorrow for the first time. We’re thinking it’s likely to get two paws up.

2. And something for humans: Come watch the movie Maverick (rated PG) on Aug. 17 at the Rancho Mission Viejo Riding Park in San Juan Capistrano. Admission is free for the movie. Gates open at 6 p.m. and the movie begins at 8 p.m. Dinner and concessions will be available for purchase by Bad to the Bone and Chop Chef. For more information click here

3. Get your Hawaiian on: Anuhea Acoustic plays the Coach House Friday, which describes her as a Hawaiian born singer/songwriter who blends engaging lyrics, acoustic soul, pop, rap and reggae.

4. Nature happens: Want to sit around a campfire and learn about nature? Check out this event at Caspers.

5. Weekend tunes and wine: The featured guest singer Sunday at Hamilton Oaks Vineyard and Winery is Kelly’s Lot, described as blues and rock. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased here. Five Vines has Zak Salazar from 7:30-10:30 p.m. Friday and Matt Stephens from &:30-10:30 p.m. Saturday.
