Ways to Remember 9/11 in San Juan Capistrano

What you need to know about events in our town today.

1. Never forget: A memorial service marking the 12th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2011 attacks will be held at Orange County Fire Authority's Station 7 in San Juan Capistrano at 8:30 a.m. today. The public is invited to attend. Station 7 is located at 31865 Del Obispo St. Parking is limited, so please plan to park off site and walk to the station.

2. Never forget, Part II: To commemorate the 12th anniversary of 9/11 , OneOC, formerly Volunteer Center Orange County, has arranged for Camp Pendleton Marines to volunteer to refurbish and refresh garden areas for fall planting with students  at Kinoshita Elementary. The Marines will be on site from 9-11 this morning.

3. Never forget, Part III: Mission San Juan Capistrano will have a special bell-ringing ceremony at 10 this morning -- free for paid visitors, but audible to us all -- to pay tribute to those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001.

4. It’s a busy morning! The San Juan Capistrano Police Services’ Crime Prevention Unit  will be hosting a business watch meeting this morning at 8:30 at the Nydegger Building, 31421 La Matanza St. Business owners will learn how to protect their business from becoming a crime target.
