A 4-year-old in Missouri was sent a package from a San Clemente address filled with food laced with a concentrated chemical found in marijuana, sending the girl and her mom to the E.R.

KTVI News in St. Louis reports a family in Jefferson County received two separate gift packages from a company in San Clemente. The family has a relative in Orange County and thought nothing strange. The daughter, unnamed, had just turned 4 after all.

Mom Christine Braun ate a muffin, and the girl had a treat as well. The next thing she knew, she was experiencing strange sensations, Braun told a KTVI reporter. She felt like her blood was thick and she had wet herself.

Both she and her daughter ended up in the emergency room, Braun said. It took five hours before she began to feel normal.

The doctor told Braun the treats had been laced highly concentrated levels of THC, the chemical found in marijuana. The relative in San Clemente said she didn’t send the packages.

KTVI reports that police authorities there are investigating.

Agree. Who just opens a package and starts eating without realizing you have no idea who sent it. I mean, you look at the box, read who the sender is (think, hey i better remember to send a thank you card). I don't buy this for a second.

Something is odd about this. We do not know all the facts. Was it a family type baked muffins in a tin-home made type of gife? Or was it more professional like See's Candy. In any case there would have been a return label or a card. To Sally from Mary Happy Holidays. or Cindy's Muffins of San Clemente. Something written to promote the goodies. Who is going to eat a package of food with no label, no card, nothing? And, give it to your child too? Just dumb.

If you watch the video included in this article (I know, novel idea eh?!), you will find out:-------------------------------------------------- 1) It was the little girl's birthday--------------- 2) Package #1 was addressed to little girl and contained gifts. Package was sent by an Aunt who lives in San Clemente--------- 3) Package #2 arrived two days later also addressed to the little girl, from the same city, from the same shipping company and contained treats------------------------------------------------------- 4) Mother makes a reasonable assumption that package #2 is also from the Aunt

Someone needs to investigate this package trail. This is very wierd. Remember the tampering with Tylenol a few years ago.
