19th-Century Throwbacks Lead Fiesta Association to Swallows Parade

The Fiesta Association is revving up for the crowning event of Fiesta de los Golindrinas—the .

Members were dressed in Old West garb at two events held this week in town as part of Fiesta de las Golondrinas, or Festival of the Swallows.

El Presidente Ball, a dinner and dance honoring president Steve Weeks, took place Sunday at El Adobe Restaurant. On Wednesday night, association members took shelter from the rain at the Swallow's Inn, where they partied for Fiesta Grande. The party centered on four contests: Best Dressed Old West Man, Best Dressed Old West Woman, Best Belt Buckle and the Smooth Puss.

The parade starts at 11 a.m. Saturday in downtown San Juan Capistrano.
