Swap out the beach towels and Boogie boards for umbrellas and jackets today through Saturday, forecasters advise.

Orange County's schizophrenic spring weather shifts back to chilly and rainy today through Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

A cold front creeping south along the West Coast is expected to bring strong onshore winds and hazardous seas today, along with possible showers and thunderstorms continuing into early Saturday.

Overnight showers could bring lows from 41 to 47 degrees, with west
winds blowing 15 to 20 mph and gusts to 30 mph.

The weather service warned mariners that increased winds and swell will cause hazardous water conditions on Orange County coasts.

Total rainfall could range from a third of an inch along the coast to 1 inch on coastal mountain slopes. Snowfall of 5 to 10 inches could blanket local mountains, down to 3,500 feet.
