Beach Warnings in Dana Point: Bacteria Levels Up

November is here and the weather if finally cooler, but even if you plan to still swim, heed these Dana Point beach warnings.

Summer may be history, but there are still plenty of folks who like to swim and surf in area beaches including Dana Point.

If you're thinking of swimming in certain areas of Dana Point harbor and surroundings beaches, read these closures issued by the Orange County Health Care Agency's Ocean Water Protection Program. 

The agency has posted these warnings due to increased bacteria levels:

Dana Point - From Salt Creek to 300 feet upcoast of Salt Creek (posted 10-31). 

Dana Point - From the Dana Point harbor breakwater to 300 feet downcoast of the Dana Point harbor breakwater at Doheny State Beach (posted 10-31).

Dana Point - 500 feet upcoast and 500 feet downcoast of San Juan Creek at Doheny State Beach (posted 10-26).

Dana Point - From 500 feet upcoast of the first restrooms south of the last campground to the end of the park at Doheny State Beach (posted area extended 10-26.

Dana Point - All of Capistrano County Beach (posted 9-14).

Dana Point - All of Capistrano Bay Community Beach (posted 9-14).

None of this is caused by plastic bags! The council should be focusing on projects that will actually make a difference in the water quality of DP beaches, not plastic bag bans.
