Christmas in June? Angel Fans Will Try to Break Record for Largest Gathering of the Santa Hat-Clad

At the start of the fifth inning, fans will be asked to wear for five consecutive minutes the Angels Santa hats they will have received on entering the stadium.

An attempt to break the Guinness world record for the largest gathering of people wearing Santa hats will be made at tonight's Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim game at Angel Stadium.

At the start of the fifth inning, fans will be asked to wear for five consecutive minutes the Angels Santa hats they will have received on entering the stadium. After the five minutes have elapsed, a Guinness World Records adjudicator will officially certify the new record.

A short ceremony will be held in the Diamond Club later in the game to recognize the record-breaking attempt. The record of 872 is expected to be shattered.

This will be the fifth consecutive season the Angels have made a world record attempt. The team set records for the largest gathering of people wearing fleece blankets in 2010, most people wearing costume masks in 2011, largest gathering of people wearing cowboy hats in 2012 and largest gathering of people wearing wigs in 2013.

The world record attempt is part of the team's "1/2 Way to Christmas" celebration at the game against the Minnesota Twins, exactly six months before Christmas.
