Get Out: Art in Downtown and Music at the Library

The best of the weekend in and around San Juan Capistrano.

This summer weekend features the Second Saturday Art Fair, a concert at the library, and the closing weekend of the Orange County Fair. So get out and enjoy!


Where/When: , 31495 El Camino Real, San Juan Capistrano; 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. Saturday
Why go: Listen to a unique blend of Afro-Cuban and pan-African styles. In the words of those who work at the library: Ricardo and his Gang are "the best of the best, with a great sound, all original music, and a groove that will make you jump out of your seat and shake your socks off!"
Pricing: $10 for adults, $5 for children 12 and under


Where/When: Orange County Fairgrounds, 88 Fair Dr., Costa Mesa; Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to midnight. (Closes Sunday)
Why go: Rides, artwork displays, gardening demonstrations and of course, deep-fried everything. 
Pricing: $11 adults and teens over 13, $8 for seniors 60 and over, $6 ages 6 to 12, free under 6; parking $7, preferred parking $12

Why go: Features dozens of local visual artists and their work. 
Pricing: Free


Where/When: The Richard and Donna O’Neill Conservancy, San Juan Capistrano; 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday
Why go: Watch for bats flying overhead, listen for owls and hear the cacophony of nocturnal insects.  
Pricing: $10 for adults, $5 for children 10 to 18, free for members
