It's not a good-looking building, but City Hall itself is a second home to government watchdogs and gadflies, reporters, city staffers, volunteers who serve on advisory bodies and of course, politicians. It's where important policy decisions are made. The City Council chambers are also the place where many presentations and honors are bestowed to outstanding residents and where, as of late, local student groups, choirs and residents with outstanding voices sing patriotic songs before the start of each council meeting.

Just as important, on the same lot sits the Ortega Dance Hall—home to Police Services—the utilities department and the groundwater recovery plant.
