One-Eyed Chihuahua Seeks Home

A San Juan Capistrano animal rescue group is helping an abandoned and injured dog.

A one-eyed Chihuahua is looking for a new home after being rescued by The Ark, a nonprofit animal assistance group in San Juan Capistrano.

Little Meg was found abandoned and severely injured, apparently after being attacked by another dog and left for dead, according to a press release. One eye was severely damaged and had to be removed.

“The Ark has taken this little one onboard and will do everything we can to give her the second chance she so deserves” said Ark board member Kathy Hammersly.

According to The Ark, Meg is being treated at the San Juan Animal Hospital thanks to money from the Jack Mannix Memorial Fund, established in honor of a late veterinarian. Meg's medical bills will total about $1,100, so The Ark is accepting donations in Mannix’s honor to help her and other animals.

Since 2008, the all-volunteer Ark has rescued about 450 animals, according to the press release. Volunteers now hope to find a permanent home for Meg.
