Updated: Pet Parade Winner Ella Erickson Will Show Off Pup in Swallows' Parade
The Kids Pet Parade was held Sunday, Feb. 27 in San Juan Capistrano.
Ella Erickson and her dog Ruby—dressed like a full-fledged patriotic cowboy canine—took the top prize Sunday at the Kids Pet Parade by claiming the "Judges Choice" award. She will now ride in the Swallows Day Parade March 26.
Children aged 5 to 12 turned out with cats, dogs and even frogs and chickens dressed up in costumes Sunday at Cook-La Novia Park for the annual Kids Pet Parade. The parade is part of the 2011 a series of cherished events leading up to the popular Swallows' Day Parade.

Now, the the nonprofit which organizes all of the celebrations, will prepare for its next event, El Presidente Ball. The ball will take place Saturday, March 19, at Restaurant, 31891 Camino Capistrano. It's a formal affair with dinner, dancing and silent and live auction.
