Stellar St. Margaret's Students Named First Junior Parade Dignitaries

Hannah Hess is Miss Fiesta; Colin Shaffer is Jr. Senor San Juan.

Two students with leading athletic and academic records will be the first "junior dignitaries" to ride in the 2011 Swallows' Day Parade. 

Miss Fiesta is Hannah Hess, a senior and captain of the three-time, back-to-back CIF championship girls varsity tennis team (2010, 2009 and 2008). Hess has received Academic Headmaster’s Honors (GPA above 3.7) each year and is a member of the Associated Student Body. She has participated in the National Charity league for six years and has taken mission trips with her church to Mexico, Nevada, Texas and Los Angeles to help homeless, victims of natural disasters and others in need.

The Jr. Senor San Juan is Colin Shaffer, also a senior who has achieved Academic Headmaster’s Honors since his freshman year and is the vice president of the Associated Student Body. He also serves as captain of the St. Margaret’s Varsity boys soccer team, sings in the Tartan Chorale, is a member of the Tartans’ Model United Nations team and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He also volunteers as a tutor and counselor with San Juan charitable organizations Special Camp for Special Kids and Breakthrough San Juan Capistrano.

Hess and Shaffer will represent the  and St. Margaret's at the 53rd Swallows' Day Parade in downtown on Saturday, March 26.
