VIDEO: SJC Grandma Celebrates 100th

Josephine Romero and her friends gather to recognize a century's worth of living.

About 80 friends and family gathered around San Juan Capistrano's newest centurian, Josephine Romero.

Born in Puerto Rico, she's the mother-in-law of Councilman Sam Allevato, who was also on hand, along with grandchildren and great-grandchildren, to toast Romero.

The party was held at the San Juan Capistrano , and was also attended by many members of the local senior center, whom Allevato credited with extending Romero's long life and giving it special meaning.
