Conservative Rocker Nugent Visits SJC

Recent comments got him booted from a Kentucky line-up, but he'll be in San Juan Capistrano Thursday night.

Rocker Ted Nugent may have been kicked off the bill in Kentucky, but he’s coming to San Juan Capistrano Thursday.

Nugent of “Cat Scratch Fever” and other 70s tunes’ fame, is also known for his conservative viewpoints.

Inflammatory remarks he made earlier this month – that he’d be “dead or in jail by this time next year” if President Obama wins re-election – apparently caught the attention of the Secret Service.

Nugent made the comments during an interview at the National Rifle Association convention in St. Louis, comparing Obama and his administration to "coyotes" that needed to be shot and encouraging voters to "chop [Democrats'] heads off in November,” according to the Huffington Post.

That was enough for promoters of a military concert in Fort Knox, Ky. to kick him out of the line-up. The show will go on with other groups from the same era, REO Speedwagon and Styx.

The San Juan Capistrano show Thursday night at the , however, will go on. The event is sold out, according to the venue's website. But tickets may still be available at the box office, it says.

I'll take a pass on this one. This kind of talk is a little too "out there" for me (and by that I mean incredibly stupid and inflammatory). Of course the First Amendment gives him the right, absolutely, to be stupid and inflammatory. He has taken full advantage. GBA.

Seems like Orange County, CA is a better place for him. Many people feel the same way, but are more tactful when they speak of it. There are better ways to say how you feel. They should have let him play.

I wonder if he'll play Cat Scratch Fever ?

Im not sure 'conservative' is the right word to describe The Nuge.

Ted Nugent, let's see... Aging rocker, married twice, fathered three children out of wedlock. Delinquent on child support payments until ordered by the court to do the right thing. Tried to marry a 17-year-old Hawaiian girl, but as she was not of legal age, got her parents to appoint him as her legal guardian, a move described by Spin magazine in October 2000 as one of the "100 Sleaziest Moments in Rock." A superpatriot and gun rights advocate, but somehow managed to avoid military service during the Vietnam War through repeated deferments. Convicted on illegal hunting charges twice, facing two year's probation and a $10,000 fine in the State of Alaska, banned from hunting in Alaska and on Federal lands. Called President Obama "a sh** " and told him "to suck on my machine gun." After threats made recently against President Obama, was investigated and interviewed by the Secret Service. Hasn't had a hit in two decades. No, I think I'll pass.

Sounds like a great family values kind of guy. Makin' life easy for Obama, I'd say.

Calling Nugent a 'conservative' is a bit like referring to a member of the Weather Underground as a 'liberal'.

I was at the show last night! Those of you that passed missed a great OC event. Great rock concert! Ted is very entertaining and James Shumaker your comments above while maybe true..what about Clinton, John Edwards, Ted and John Kennedy, Truman's mistress...Like those leaders were saints? Give me a break! We need more people like Ted in this country to voice whats right and wrong with this country's government.

I have heard allegations that FDR had a mistress (Lucy Mercer Rutherford) and Eisenhower too (Kay Summersby), but I don't think anyone has ever produced evidence that Harry Truman was unfaithful to his wife. As for Ted Nugent, I'm glad you had a good time at the concert, but he's the last person I would trust to pontificate on what's right and wrong with this country. There are plenty of pundits on the right who are civil and well-informed, and haven't threatened the President recently. Pick one of them instead.
