Chamber of Commerce Hosts 2012 City Cup & Charity Challenge

The San Juan Capistrano hosted the City Cup Golf Tournament at on Friday afternoon. The format was a modified scramble with a shotgun start at 1 p.m.  

In honor of Cinco de Mayo, Mariachi Capistrano by Mariachis for All performed and Mexican food was provided by  restaurant for lunch and the golf club for dinner.  

Twelve teams competed for the opportunity to decide which charity would receive the $2,500 donation check. The winning team was the foursome entered by . They decided to split the award between the two eligible charities, giving $1,250 each to and the .

Larry Thomas, president of , won the "Closest to the Hole" award on No. 18.  "The Long Drive" on Hole No. 12 went to Bryan McSweeney.

This was the first time the Chamber has held the tournament since 2005.
