Two friends started Coastal Consignment & Boutique at the beginning of the year and just today, they celebrated an expansion that almost doubles the size of their home-furnishings store.
Ruth Weiss of Oceanside and Anastasia Salerno of Dana Point were talking about opening their own store for a few years, Salerno said. When they decided to go for it, they took their time finding just the right location.
“It took months. When we saw this, we instantly called the number on the for-rent sign,” Salerno said. The shop is near the corner of Camino Capistrano and Del Obispo Street not far from . “We love our location. We love our customers. We love being in a small town.”

The mix of home furnishings and accessories – with some jewelry and handbags thrown in for fun – is about 65 percent on consignment and 35 percent new merchandise, Weiss said. They offer everything from crystal to beds to artwork.
“We try to keep a balance,” she said. “We focus on good quality. We don’t specialize in [antiques], but we do accept them if they’re in really good condition.”
