New Car Dealer Drives into San Juan Capistrano

There’s a new car dealership in town.

Or make that three.

Canton, Mich.-based Victory Automotive Group bought the three Weseloh dealerships, Honda, Nissan and Kia, and has rebranded them as Ocean Honda, Ocean Nissan and Ocean Kia.

While nationwide, the group keeps its sights small. Small towns, that is.

According to an article in the Auburn Journal, the company purposely targets towns of about 25,000 people.

“We look at dealerships that have been owned by the same company for a long time and have a good reputation,” Jay Cappo, owner of the Auburn, Calif.’s Victory dealership, told the area paper.

Weseloh, according to its website, opened Honda in San Juan in 1991, adding Kia and Nissan in 2009. But that family business traces its roots in San Diego County as far back as the 1920s.

The local dealerships transitioned to the Ocean brand July 15.

“How excited we are to be in San Juan Capistrano,” said company spokesman Scott Crompton.
