The Rebirth of Fast Food Row in San Juan Capistrano?

Carl's Jr. officials want to tear down the old and build a new restaurant.

With Carl’s Jr. officials indicating their interest in tearing down its Del Obispo Street restaurant to build anew, 2014 may marl the rebirth of fast food row in San Juan Capistrano.

Recently, an architectural firm took out a pre-application to demolish the existing Carl’s Jr. in downtown and replace it with a 3,156-square-foot building that would feature a double drive-through, some new landscaping and new signage, according to a recent city manager’s report.

The pre-application follows a similar effort from McDonald’s, which finally saw its renovation plans approved in December after a long, drawn-out process that sent architects back to the drawing board several times.
