With Carl’s Jr. officials indicating their interest in tearing down its Del Obispo Street restaurant to build anew, 2014 may marl the rebirth of fast food row in San Juan Capistrano.

Recently, an architectural firm took out a pre-application to demolish the existing Carl’s Jr. in downtown and replace it with a 3,156-square-foot building that would feature a double drive-through, some new landscaping and new signage, according to a recent city manager’s report.

The pre-application follows a similar effort from McDonald’s, which finally saw its renovation plans approved in December after a long, drawn-out process that sent architects back to the drawing board several times.

Meanwhile, Del Taco officials went ahead with their makeover last year without asking permission. After several hearings of their own, they’ve been ordered to return to the original colors.

With Jack in the Box, Burger King, and Arby's gone, wouldn't it be more like Fast Food Row Lite? I just saying.....
