Del Obispo Widening to Begin This Week

Lane closures might be required; motorists should expect some delays.

Construction will begin this week to widen Del Obispo Street from Alipaz Street to Paseo Adelanto.

During the 10-month project, back-to-back left-turn pockets for Paseo Adelanto and Alipaz Street will be added, as will an additional left-turn lane for Alipaz Street, along with bike lanes and sidewalks on both sides of the street.

The project also includes improvements at the intersections of Del Obispo Street and Alipaz Street and Del Obispo Street and Paseo Adelanto. The improvements include dual westbound left-turn lanes from Del Obispo Street to Alipaz Street, dual westbound left-turn lanes  from Del Obispo Street to Paseo Adelanto, widening of the west side of Paseo Adelanto to approximately 500 feet south of Del Obispo Street, and adjustments to signal phasing.

Work that interferes with traffic flow and blocks lanes will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Work on Saturdays, if any, will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Other work outside of the roadway could take place from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Traffic and pedestrian control will be in place for public safety. Lane closures may be required; motorists should expect some delays. A bike detour will also be in place.
