I-5 Sound Wall Demolition Begins Tonight

Project will continue over five nights near the San Juan Creek Bridge. Residents are advised the work could be noisy.

Caltrans is embarking on a nighttime construction project that involves demolishing 309 feet of block masonry soundwall and concrete barrier along Interstate 5.

Starting Wednesday and continuing for five consecutive weeknights, the project will take place from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. along the southbound I-5 just north of the San Juan Creek Bridge, according to Caltrans.

The work is being done to accommodate construction of an auxiliary lane for the Camino Capistrano off-ramp.

Residents are advised that demolition of the soundwall and hauling away the debris could be noisy. The work is being done at night for space and safety reasons, according to Caltrans.
