X-Rated Yearbook Prank Ruffles JSerra

Numerous copies were distributed before officials at the Catholic high school discovered a boy had exposed himself in one photo.

Some JSerra Catholic High School students got an X-rated surprise in their recently distributed yearbooks: a senior boy exposing himself in a large group photo.

It's easy to miss at first glance, but a two-page picture of seniors in various goofy poses includes a student in the foreground displaying his genitals over his pants.

The crotch shot was reportedly discovered after the yearbooks were handed out to graduating seniors, at which point officials retrieved as many copies as they could and began blacking out the image by hand.

"They Sharpied out all the parts of the yearbooks before it went out," said student Michael Zabran.

Reaction on campus was mixed.

Many students saw the incident as a harmless prank, said Jeff Stocker, a junior at the school.

But school officials and some parents were not amused.

Zabran and another student, Andrew Ikalowich, said school administrators let the boy receive his diploma, but banned him from walking in the graduation ceremony.

JSerra officials declined to discuss the student's fate.

"We're not commenting on that because it's a disciplinary issue, and we don't release that information to anyone but the parents," JSerra spokeswoman Amanda Samaan said.

One JSerra parent, who asked to remain anonymous, said she didn’t understand how the school didn’t catch the obscene picture before the yearbook was published. Because of the oversight, she said, the entire student body has to live with a tarnished 2012-13 yearbook.
