Patch Picks: Celebrate Cinco de Mayo

Thursday is Cinco de Mayo. Here are Patch's recommendations for ways to celebrate.

Thursday is Cinco de Mayo, a day to honor the Mexican army's victory over the French in the Battle of Puebla 1862. Most likely, you'll be celebrating the Mexican holiday with some good friends, food and drinks.

Here are Patch's picks of places to wear your sombrero and kick back with a Corona  (don't forget to bring your designated driver):

Celebrate the night in grand style at . The restaurant is hosting two parties: The first is from 5-7 p.m. with mariachis and food and drink specials. The second party is scheduled from 7:30 p.m. to midnight and will have both a DJ and the popular Mexican band Los Cadetes de Linares. Tickets for the event are $30 at the door.

From 7:30-10:30 p.m. party at the local watering hole, where you'll find the blues band, Family Style, and specials on food and drinks, including Mexican beers and tequilas.

The family-owned restaurant is commemorating the day with a celebration, offering food and drink specials, including $3 margaritas! There will be a mariachi band to add to the restaurant's already vibrant atmosphere.

If you're a weekend warrior, you'll want to attend a celebration Saturday at in San Clemente, complete with mariachis, Aztec dancers, ballet folklorico and live bands. There will be children's activities, and authentic food and drinks will be available. The event is scheduled to take place from noon to 6 p.m.
