Road Closures Set For June

Oso Road will close for two weeks beginning June 13 and La Zanja Street will close for one week starting June 27.

Two full road closures are planned at Oso Road and La Zanja Street while Orange County Transportation Authority crews repave the area and install new medians on both sides of the railroad crossings.

Oso Road will close for about two weeks beginning at 6 a.m. June 13. Detour signs will be posted and drivers can use La Zanja Street during the closure.

Once work at Oso Road is complete, La Zanja Street will close for one week starting 6 a.m. June 27. Drivers can use Oso Road to detour around the La Zanja Street closure.

Pedestrian and bicycle access at both crossings will remain open during the closures.

Once completed, the improvements will include upgraded and updated warning devices, additional gate arms, extended and raised street medians, improved signage and coordinated traffic signals.

Crews are improving five crossings in San Juan Capistrano as part of OCTA’s rail safety enhancement program: Avenida Aeropuerto, Del Obispo Street, La Zanja Street, Oso Road and Verdugo Street. All five crossings are anticipated to be completed this fall.
