San Juan Capistrano Gets Its Own Hitler Parody Video

An attempt to recall the mayor and a recent newspaper rack ban become grist for an internet fave.

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA. — San Juan Capistrano politics has its own Hitler video parody.

There are literally thousands of these parodies on YouTube, which borrow a scene from Downfall, a film made in 2004, during which the Fuhrer realizes he cannot win the war. There’s even a video Hitler parody about Hitler parodies.

San Juan’s version plays up recent tensions among two political factions in town: the council majority led by Mayor Sam Allevato and those who want to recall the mayor.

A minority member of the City Council recently compared the mayor to Hitler himself for attempting to ban newspaper racks from City Hall, a move a judge ordered reversed, and for Allevato personally showing up where petitioners are gathering signatures, which some find intimidating.

SO WHAT DO YOU THINK? FUNNY OR GOING TOO FAR? TELL US IN THE COMMENTS.

Tornado, you've connected some interesting dots on Jonathan Volzke. But the shocker for me was that he's running for City Council ~ is that official?

In my opinion, while he is not officially running for city council, Jonathan Volzke is getting all of his ducks in a row. I would not be surprised if Laura Freese runs for city council also. However, I think when she reads the letter that Sam Allevato wrote to the Orange County Republican Party regarding the problems in San Juan Capistrano and essentially blaming all of those problems on Laura Freese and Sam Allevato taking no responsibility, she will have wished that she never placed her support behind Sam Allevato. Maybe that letter should be submitted to Patch for all to read?

@Vladimir- your response is a wee bit convoluted and contradictory. Regardless of that, I hope you'll join in me in happily bidding this thread goodbye!

JV is running for a seat on the city council? Do we want a paid political lobbyist making decisions for us? Hasn't JVolke done enough damage misinforming us on why our water rates are the highest in all surrounding cities. Hasn't JVolzke tryed to sway public opinion regarding the new park on La Pata, why the city bought the land behind closed doors. His response was, it is a place for SJC to hold local events. Weddings and rodeo's, the park is not appropriate for weddings or rodeo's. I am actually shocked to hear he would have the nerve to run for a seat on the city council.

Penny can you print the letter Sam wrote to the OC Republican party. I would like to see that.
