San Juan Capistrano Gets Its Own Hitler Parody Video

An attempt to recall the mayor and a recent newspaper rack ban become grist for an internet fave.

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA. — San Juan Capistrano politics has its own Hitler video parody.

There are literally thousands of these parodies on YouTube, which borrow a scene from Downfall, a film made in 2004, during which the Fuhrer realizes he cannot win the war. There’s even a video Hitler parody about Hitler parodies.

San Juan’s version plays up recent tensions among two political factions in town: the council majority led by Mayor Sam Allevato and those who want to recall the mayor.

A minority member of the City Council recently compared the mayor to Hitler himself for attempting to ban newspaper racks from City Hall, a move a judge ordered reversed, and for Allevato personally showing up where petitioners are gathering signatures, which some find intimidating.

SO WHAT DO YOU THINK? FUNNY OR GOING TOO FAR? TELL US IN THE COMMENTS.

Sorry? How's that my problem?
Sunshine March 01, 2014 at 11:43 PM
So you guys have added a new tactic. Now we've got attack, distract, deny AND play dumb.
Maeve Mcdonough March 01, 2014 at 11:50 PM
Say no more. I rest my case.
Sunshine March 02, 2014 at 12:02 AM
And I rest mine.
Maeve Mcdonough March 02, 2014 at 12:07 AM
Well, good night, and good luck to you, then.

Connect the dots, Jonathan Volzke works for Faubel, a PR firm who has SDG&E as a client, and Rancho Mission Viejo Company. JV is also connected to Capistrano Dispatch. It helps to own a newspaper. Following influencial men 101, like William Randolph Hearst, Volzke started as the voice of the people of San Juan Capistrano. But, that doesn't make money. Now if you looks at the Capistrano Dispatch it is full of advertising of those who support Sam Allevato. I would be willing to guess one those printers who advertise in the Dispatch printed the glossy flyers that we have all received lately. The glossy flyers are professional and created to discredit anyone who disagrees with the recall of Sam Allevato. CARE a local non profit has a 1/2 page color ad located the inside cover. Letters from public are only "for" Allevato, none against. To say that JV is double dipping, is an unstatement. JVolzke has media support and financial support. What ever happened to the guy who loved our small town and cared about the residents?
Tornado Johnson March 02, 2014 at 02:56 PM
My research shows Fr. Serra, you are no Italian Stallian. You are not Italian. You are a Spaniard. Interesting that you are making a move on us women when you are celibate. It appears that you are the nucleus of the sexual problems the Catholic Church has had with men of the cloth.
Tornado Johnson March 02, 2014 at 03:01 PM
My research shows that whenever Jonathan Volzke does not want to answer a question, Maeve McDonough, Flint Mervington, Don-SJC, Peace 4 SJC, suddenly appear.
Tornado Johnson March 02, 2014 at 03:04 PM
Despite all of his statements of transparency, Jonathan Volzke still has not stated who "we" is? Still has not stated why he has not disclosed to everyone that he still has an interest in Picket Fence Media/Capistrano Dispatch? Still has stated why he thinks the water rates will not go down? All of this from a man who is running for city council, but cannot answer questions.
Sunshine March 02, 2014 at 05:56 PM
You're right, Tornado, Jonathan has many nomenclatures. He thinks he can use the "I'm dumber than a door knob" tactic when his attack, distract, and deny tactics don't work. Little did he know we're familiar with Saul Alinsky, too.
Vladimir March 02, 2014 at 11:31 PM
"So you guys have added a new tactic. Now we've got attack, distract, deny AND play dumb." Sunshine, have you considered the very real possibility that they are not "playing?"
Donna Fleming March 02, 2014 at 11:46 PM
Vladimir....It scares me. These guys are not playing. And, big bucks are involved. Lots of bucks are flowing in to keep Allevato in office. Not just local residents. I don't think they are playing.
Tornado Johnson March 04, 2014 at 11:09 PM
My research shows that Steven Behmerwohld collected another $48.59 from the taxpayers for a phone case. eBay has some very nice phone cases for sale at $3.99. Another example of how Steven Behmerwohld fleeces the taxpayers.
Maeve Mcdonough March 05, 2014 at 01:08 AM
OK, Tornado. So now I get it. Your last post makes it clear to me that your previous posts are an attempt at satire or parody. Sheesh, took me long enough to get it, but your most recent comment about Steve Behmerwolhld's $48.00 eBay purchase clarifies the whole idea that you have just been toying with us on this thread. Of course you can't be serious - and I fell for your charade.
Sunshine March 05, 2014 at 01:17 AM
Meave, no one has tried or been able to disprove Tornado's research. I believe she's for real.
Maeve Mcdonough March 05, 2014 at 01:43 AM
Sure, if that's your story, and you're sticking with it, then we'll go with Tornado's SHOCKING revelation that Steve Behmerwohld bought a phone case for $48.00. ...oh the shame of it ;)
Steve Behmerwohld March 05, 2014 at 01:43 AM
Tomato, you're research is spot on. I WAS reimbursed for a phone case I purchased for an ASAP cellphone. I have a pin on my ASAP uniform acknowledging my 500+ hours of UNPAID VOLUNTEER time. How much time do you have volunteering to help out anywhere? They didn't pay me $48.59, they paid me BACK! BTW, it was nice to see you at Council tonight. Sorry you didn't get a chance to speak.
Maeve Mcdonough March 05, 2014 at 02:32 AM
BTW Vladimir, nice try on the "playing dumb" slam. Close, but didn't really hit the mark.
Lint Worthlessness March 05, 2014 at 03:54 AM
Come on, Vlad, Tornado, "Donna", Sunshine and Angus, we need to band together to battle the evil oppressors!. Surly if we haven't gathered enough recall signatures by 4:30 Friday, our world will be over and we will have to go back to that real world where people have real names and jobs and stuff. Maybe Tornado WILL get a job doing "Research", but that's not what MY research shows will happen. My research shows that Patch will fold and we will be denied our voice! It will be a crime against Humanity, like that time when I was a kid and we lost a ball game and they didn't give the loosing team trophies. Well, they did give us trophies, but they weren't as big as the winning team's trophies and it hurt our (THE LOSERS) self esteem. So all we (THE LOSERS) are asking for is this, If we don't get enough signatures to recall the evil Sam Avocado, just let us have someone that we want on Council and everything will be just peachy and all of our self esteem will be unblemished.
Angus Kevin Mckay March 05, 2014 at 09:52 AM
Lint, your statements are so ridiculous I now understand why you post under a different name. Before you band anyone together to take us out of this haze and into your clarity, I wonder, how did you band us all together as one? I have never met anyone on here but we're now a crime fighting team. I don't need to defend myself against your bullying Lint. I own a company, I support a family, I employ 25+ employees, and I did all of this before 26. I seek no validation from some washed up person making posts on patch to get some kicks. In my eyes Lint, the person who makes these fake names, post these things they are too afraid to say in the public eye, they are the cowards and losers lint.
Sunshine March 05, 2014 at 11:15 AM
I though Vladimir did hit the mark. You were playing dumb. You are playing dumb.
Tornado Johnson March 05, 2014 at 12:13 PM
So you really did charge the residents $48.59 for a cellular phone case Steven Behmerwohld? I have not been to a city council meeting. My background investigations are completed online, unless I must travel to the county recorder or court house for copies of files. Your immature humor is showing by keep continuing to call me Tomato. I thought a man of your intelligence could do better than a name I heard when I was in kindergarten. But then again, you thin $48.59 is a good price for a cell phone case.
Tornado Johnson March 05, 2014 at 12:16 PM
No parody here Eric Bergstrom. Just the facts.
Smokey Bear March 05, 2014 at 02:39 PM
I thought that we already had enough signatures. Does anyone else keep getting surveys from Capistrano Cares? It is supposed to be anonymous, but it asks for your name. I have also previously unsubscribed to this many times, but keep getting strange emails, it is so annoying. When is he gone already? & how do we keep any of the bad people from being in office again? How do we undo all the development that has been done & land that was sold?
Vladimir March 05, 2014 at 11:35 PM
"BTW Vladimir, nice try on the "playing dumb" slam. Close, but didn't really hit the mark." Sorry, what was "the mark" then?
Maeve Mcdonough March 06, 2014 at 01:28 AM
To "hit the mark" is an idiom which I'm sure you know, means to be correct or accurate. To say that we who oppose your viewpoints, are merely "playing" dumb implies that we are intellectually deficient. So, no score, Vladimir.
Vladimir March 09, 2014 at 11:25 PM
Maeve: Thanks for your reply. However I was not inquiring as to what the phrase "hitting the Mark" means. Moreover, I think you have it backwards. If you were "playing" dumb that would not at all infer that you are intellectually deficient. In fact, it would likely entail the opposite. If I said you were "actually" dumb that would indicate intellectual deficiency. I never meant to imply that you are intellectually deficient, only wrong.
Mark Speros March 10, 2014 at 02:37 PM
Tornado, you've connected some interesting dots on Jonathan Volzke. But the shocker for me was that he's running for City Council ~ is that official?
Tornado Johnson March 10, 2014 at 03:01 PM
In my opinion, while he is not officially running for city council, Jonathan Volzke is getting all of his ducks in a row. I would not be surprised if Laura Freese runs for city council also. However, I think when she reads the letter that Sam Allevato wrote to the Orange County Republican Party regarding the problems in San Juan Capistrano and essentially blaming all of those problems on Laura Freese and Sam Allevato taking no responsibility, she will have wished that she never placed her support behind Sam Allevato. Maybe that letter should be submitted to Patch for all to read?
Maeve Mcdonough March 10, 2014 at 11:45 PM
@Vladimir- your response is a wee bit convoluted and contradictory. Regardless of that, I hope you'll join in me in happily bidding this thread goodbye!
