BLOG: The Market is Really Picking Up!

It’s been a long arduous road, and I’m not sure we’re at the end but all of a sudden, the market is alive with activity. 

Inventory is down, sales are up and there’s a distinct change in the feel out there. Earlier this year, I had predicted that 2012 would turn out to be an “OK” year. Part of my theory had to do with the fact that this is an election year. Turns out I was right but not for the right reason!

Despite what statistics may say and March numbers aren’t in yet, there has been a definite shift in the level of sales and activity in the past 30 days. This is great news.

The combination of banks finally taking steps to unload inventory, record low interest rates, and a lot of pent-up demand has buyers coming out of the woodwork to take advantage of the great deals out there. Some even predict that this may be the actual “turn” of the market, that we may have actually hit the bottom. Now we have nowhere to go but up.

It’s spring and the market has sprung!

So what does this all mean to you? If you were waiting to buy, don’t wait any longer. If you were waiting to sell, now is the time. Inventory levels are down, and with your competition diminishing, this is the time to get your home spruced up and ready to sell. April is traditionally the best month of the year to sell a home, and that’s only a few days away!

And this may be a golden opportunity for some to buy at the bottom of the market with super low interest rates making housing affordability the best that it’s been in decades. So either way if you’ve been on the fence and wondering when would be a good time, here it is.

Homes are selling fastest in the lower price ranges but that’s a good place to get things moving as those sellers can then move up stimulating the higher price ranges. And the low prices along with super low interest rates make this the perfect time to say GOODBYE to your landlord and HELLO to finally owning your own home.
