involved in addiction treatment. Sheff uses real world experiences to provide
audiences with useful strategies while acknowledging that some treatments may
work for many, but do not work for all. In a close examination of addiction
therapy and of the latest addiction medicines, Sheff explores how drugs work on
the brain and how we can better treat addicts.
Biography:David Sheff is the author of Beautiful Boy: A Father's Journey Through His
Son's Addiction and Clean: Overcoming Addiction and Ending America's Greatest
Tragedy.
struggle to help his son Nic overcome addiction. Following its publication,
Sheff met countless people struggling to prevent drug use and abuse and survive
addiction. These encounters led Sheff on a mission to determine why America is
losing its war against drugs and so many of its children in the process.
