5th Grade Students are Invited to Enter "Eco Hero" Essay Contest

The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel is pleased to announce the Eco-Adventure Center’s “Eco Hero” Essay Contest for fifth grade students in Capistrano Unified School District. Fifteen essays will be selected and winning students will experience a whale watching cruise on Saturday, April 19, 2014.

If the student is selected as a winner, he/she will embark on a whale watching cruise compliments of the Gray Whale Foundation out of Dana Point Harbor on Saturday, April 19. The scholars will meet at the Dana Point Harbor by 1:30 p.m. and will be welcomed with a walk on the “green” carpet, followed by a whale watching experience from 2 to 4 p.m. on the OCeanAdventure Catamaran. Winning scholars may invite one guest to accompany them on the whale watching cruise.

There is no charge to enter. All entrants will receive acknowledgement in the form of an “Eco Hero” certificate.

Teachers or facilitators must send all entries from their classes in one envelope to the CUSD District Office, Attention: Elisa Slee, Beckman@Science Coordinator, TOSA, Education Services. If the participating student is submitting an essay independent of his/her class, it must be delivered to the District Office/Attn: Elisa Slee, no later than Friday, March 28, 2014. CUSD is not responsible for entries that are late or lost in the mail. Teachers/facilitators must submit a typed list of the names of all entrants. Please keep a copy of this list.

Fifteen winners will be selected. Winners will enjoy the whale watching cruise with the Eco-Adventure Center Naturalists. The cruise will be facilitated by the Gray Whale Foundation out of Dana Point Harbor. The experience is a two-hour whale watching excursion.

Submissions become property of The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel’s Eco-Adventure Center. Through submission of an essay, contestants and their legal guardians grant non-exclusive reproduction and publication rights to the works submitted, which will not be returned.
