BBQ and Brunch at Smoqued BBQ

We headed out and went a little bit north this past week to Old Town Orange.  Our destination was Smoqued BBQ.  My family was excited to go back and enjoy the Santa's Brunch they offer this time of year.  We went to this event last year before our girl was diagnosed with Celiac.  We didn't want to miss it, so I was able to talk to the manager ahead of time and get some guidance on what was going to work for us.

We are fortunate that BBQ lends itself nicely to being naturally GF.  Meats are smoked and all seasonings and sauces Smoqued uses are also GF.  We were also told that their eggs, bacon, sausages and potatoes are GF!  Our menu choices were plentiful.

I ordered the Chilaquiles, which includes smothered chips, fried eggs and a nice chunk of pulled pork.  The pork was incredibly delicious.  It was moist and tender and their new house BBQ sauce goes perfectly with it.

My husband indulged with the Chorizo and eggs, which is also GF.  It was spicy and tasty, just the way he likes it.  Our GF daughter had some eggs, bacon and potatoes.  She didn't care for the bacon and the potatoes were a little bell pepper heavy for her.  She did love just being out for such a special brunch with all of our family.

On the regular menu, my oldest daughter really enjoyed the Breakfast Burrito.  It was chock full of pulled pork, eggs, cheese, potatoes and salsa roja.  She loved it!  I have never seen her eat such a giant breakfast!

The Chicken & Waffles were a tremendous hit with my son.  The platter was very generous in size and the gravy was a little spicy and very creamy.

My GF daughter did wind up with a tummy ache later in the day.  We do not know if she was "glutened" at Smoqued BBQ.  I would like to say that the entire staff seemed very educated regarding GF safety and the manager assured me that precautions were taken.  She may have simply had a buggy tummy that was going around her school.

The beer selection was very impressive and changes often.  No, beer isn't GF but their menu deserves a mention.  Mimosas are GF and they offer a bottomless glass for brunch.

Brunch is served on weekends from 10:30am-2:30pm.  We look forward to returning for a dinner to indulge in more of their GF menu.

Here are my marks for Smoqued BBQ in Old Town Orange.    (1-10 with 10 being highest)
