On Cloud 9 With Our Local GF Bakery!

I have been craving, wanting, dying for a good sandwich.  We are over a month into the gluten-free diet and all is well, except for the lack of good gluten-free bread.  I was about to give up hope and then I was lucky enough to discover the Cloud 9 Bakers right here in San Juan Capistrano.

This cute little bakery/sandwich shop is packed full of tempting sweets and fabulous sandwiches and salads.  The kitchen is dedicated gluten-free and is also vegan, dairy free, organic and soy free.  This is such a find for those suffering from an assortment of allergies and looking to eat organically produced items.

I ordered the turkey and pesto sandwich on plain bread with a side garden salad.  They make everything on the spot, so I indulged in my dessert first on the patio while I waited. 

My brownie was a sinful surprise.  This decadent thick brownie was super moist and even had extra chocolate chips on top.  Not only was this a delicious organic, dairy-soy-gluten free brownie, it was one of the best brownies I have ever had.  

When I got my lunch, I loved the cute little brown box that it came in.  Very to-go friendly and held everything perfectly.  The salad was eye-appealing with its red tomatoes and bell peppers and chopped veges.  The dressing was a very good vinaigrette that was tasty but not to acidic.  The greens were very fresh and crisp, just the way I like them.  The sandwich was not as big as I had hoped for, but was plenty filling.  I did notice that it came with the turkey and pesto and nothing else.  Next time I will be sure to ask for lettuce, tomatoes and onions.  Even without the veges on the sandwich, it was delicious.  The turkey was generous and moist and the pesto was a nice addition.

What about the bread?  Oh...the bread!!!  It was heavenly!  Soft, light and it didn't fall apart when I ate it.  All I can say is, "WOW!".  Cloud 9 did it right.  I cannot wait to go back to get another one.

Cloud 9 Bakers also offers pies, cupcakes, breads, rolls and an assortment of other delightful items in their case.  We also ordered an apple pie for Thanksgiving, and we look forward to trying it!
