Rick Warren Hospitalized With Arm Pain

The pastor of the Saddleback Church stays overnight in the hospital after experiencing pain and numbness.

Saddleback Church pastor Rick Warren is in the hospital undergoing tests to determine the cause of pain in his arms and numbness in his fingers.

In an email to congregants Tuesday, Warren said he had begun feeling unwell over the weekend, and that pain and numbness set in Monday night.

His doctor made a preliminary diagnosis Tuesday that an inner ear virus could be to blame, Warren wrote.

"Currently, the doctor's diagnostic guess is that an inner ear virus I picked up last week may have spread to the nerves in my neck and radiated down my arms," Warren said. "But that's just a guess until they do a full day of tests."

On Wednesday, Warren tweeted that he has been undergoing tests of major organs during his hospitalization.

"Hospitalized for past 2 days for #heart and #brain evaluation. Tests confirm that contrary to skeptics, I do have both," he wrote.

Warren is the leader of the Lake Forest-based megachurch and a best-selling author.

The church announced Tuesday on its Twitter feed that an event at the Lake Forest campus called Vision Night, scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday, had been postponed.

Hello Alex, The problem with this country and it's individuals is that GOD has been removed from almost every thing here in the U.S. Rick Warren is a good man, and a good pastor. He spreads the good news of God and his saviour, Jesus, our Lord. Look at the schools, take God out decades ago, and decades later school shootings and bullying. When I went to elementary school in the late 60's and then high school in the 70's, I remember every morning in the first class saying the "Pledge of Allegience" and also the Lord's prayer. Look at our government, they think they are smarter than God! Look at Senator Reid's arrogance and also the others who MOCK good people and our constitutional principles. Man's wisdom is foolishness before God. The problem with our nation is not on the outside, but the inside of the human heart, morals, ethics, foundation principles are being challenged each and every day!

God Bless American again, and his people Israel who are our best friends in this world. Isn't interesting the two most hated nations, the U.S. and Israel are the greatest democracies and also where both nations worship the true and living God! John 3:16, " For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, and he who beleives in him will not perish, but have everlasting life".

Pseudo intellectuals (especially at the college level) try put everything in a box to disprove God and Jesus. Unfortunately for them, there was a Mose's and There are The 10 Commandments and 1,000s met Jesus personally along the sea of Galilee. There has never been any proof of the non existence of God. There are no proven conclusions about Creation that fit in a box. By and large people that I have met in my life's journey of any faith (that truly practice their religion) are very good people. There are surely people that do not practice any religion that are also good people. I have been involved in community activities for my entire life starting with Boy Scouts and now you teach me that this is/was to score points? Never looked at it that way. It just makes me feel good to help people who need help. Rick Warren is an extremely good man and his efforts have helped people around the world including ministry for deployed soldiers.

@larry You seem like a nice thoughtful guy, but your argument sounds like, well, the ranting of a lunatic. The great foundation for your beliefs is "There has never been any proof of the non existence of god"? There has never been proof that fairies don't fly invisibly around us at all times. Do you believe in fairies? There has never been a shred of proof that rain isn't the tears of magical, invisible, cloud-bound creatures. Do you believe in magical,cloud-bound creatures? Ah, creation! it's a story. Kind of like a children's story, but still just story. It is not science. And it's not true. As long as religious zealots cling to their disdain for truth you can't, and shouldn't, be taken seriously. As Ronald Reagan said, "Facts are stupid things". Impressive. You parenthetically mention those "...that truly practice their religion", who could you be speaking about? The throngs at Rick Warren's Christian Spectacular every weekend? With its parking lot filled with the evidence of conspicuous consumption and the pews reeking of silicone and nail polish, this is the very definition of hypocrisy. One doesn't need to ask WWJD because the answer is obvious. If these hypocrites so believe, why don't Rick's minions pray for his recovery and have Rick eschew the hospital? Surely if prayer works (and it doesn't) this gang could get Rick back on his feet. But of course god works in mysterious ways and might take Rick home. Oh well, god's will be done.
