See Juan the Zoomars Dinosaur in his New Desert Home

He arrived safe and sound. The locals seem happy to have him, unlike his short and contentious stint in San Juan Capistrano.

Zoomars Petting Zoo's controversial and eventually banished Apatosaurus statue has settled in his new home.

Unofficially named Juan, the 13-foot statue attracted dozens to several City Hall hearings, all sorts of op-ed pieces and blogs, T-shirts and even inspired artwork.

When the City Council finally gave him his eviction notice in May, Zoomars owner Carolyn Franks sent Juan packing ... to Grand Canyon Caverns in Arizona.

Now comes proof that Juan has made it safe and sound. A website called Route 66 News has photos of Juan in his new habitat.

"[W]ith roadside kitsch a long part of Route 66 history, Grand Canyon Caverns likely will be a more welcome home for it," writes author Ron Warnick.

According to an article, a formal dedication ceremony is planned later. We're sure it will be well suited a dinosaur of Juan's stature.
