We Are the World, We Are MBS!

On October 31st the students and staff of Mission Basilica School celebrated United Nations Day.  For over thirty years MBS has celebrated this very special tradition. Throughout the month of October, each class studied a country’s culture, geography, people, and traditions. The countries represented this year were Russia, Trinidad, Scotland, China, Brazil, India, Medieval England and USA.

The month of study culminated on Halloween with a school-wide celebration.  The students arrived in costumes depicting their nation of study and attended the United Nations Day Mass.  The MBS choir sang beautifully throughout the Mass and the saints of each country were honored.  The parents provided festive decorations and authentic foods that each class enjoyed at lunchtime.  Directly following the meal, the students came together for the Parade of Nations and entertained the crowd with singing and dancing from the different countries.  It was truly a wonderful day!
