Funeral Services Set for Dr. Mannix

Your pets are invited, too.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Story edited Dec. 11 to include information about what to do with your pet during the funeral service.

Funeral services have been set for beloved local veterinarian Dr. Jack Mannix, and while humans are invited to attend the memorial service itself, patients both of the two-legged variety and four are welcome to attend the reception that follows.

Elin Mannix said it was one of her father’s wishes to invite his animal patients to the celebration of his life.

For those wanting to bring their pet to the reception after the service, here are some options from the Mannix family:

Dr. Jack’s Memorial Services & Reception

Saturday, December 15th 1:30 pm

Bringing Your Pet Saturday?  Dr. Jack Hopes So!

  Here are your Options:

  1.  For those seeking to be in the sanctuary for the services, with Dr. Jack’s personal experience, blessing and corresponding caution:  it IS OK to leave ones pet in a (secured) vehicle alone as long as there is good ventilation with windows partially down.
  2. For those uncomfortable with in-the-car-windows-down solution, yet who still seek to bring their pet Saturday, the church will broadcast the services/speakers outside the sanctuary.  Individuals will be able to hear the services. Chairs will be available first come first serve on the patio area where the owner/pet may stay together.
  3. Bring a two legged friend willing to handle your pet on the patio area while the church services are taking place.  Reconnect with your pet (and friend) for the reception
  4. If you need  assistance with your pet separate from (1)(2) or (3) above,  volunteers may be available for assistance first come-first serve by advanced reservation.  Call and LEAVE A MESSAGE for Doug at 246-9334.  You will receive a returned phone call within the day to confirm possible availability of such special assistance.

In lieu of flowers, the Mannix family requests that donations be made to the following organizations in Jack’s memory:
