OBIT: Swallows Inn's King of the Dance Floor, Keith Petrin

A memorial will take place at his favorite watering hole next week.

Keith Petrin, known around the Swallows Inn as the “King of the Dance Floor,” died last week. He was 52.

Petrin suffered a stroke in 2008 that left him not only partially disabled but suffering with a burning pain that emanated from inside his bones, he told the Orange County Register in January.

But a unique procedure that wired electrodes right onto his brain to mask the pain gave him new life and hope, he said.

A fixture at the Swallows, it is only fitting Petrin’s memorial take place there. And so at 5:30 p.m Nov. 6, friends will gather for “one heck of a party,” just like Petrin would have wanted, a flier for the memorial states. Those wishing to attend are asked to arrive early.

Petrin’s favorite band, The Big Fat Steve Band, will play and dancing will ensue.

“What would a celebration for Keith be without dancing?” asks the flier.
