Service for SVCS Student and Dad Set for Saturday

The father-son duo died from injuries in an automobile crash. They will be memorialized in Capistrano Beach.

By Martin Henderson

The father and son who perished together in a traffic accident on a remote stretch of highway while headed for a guy's weekend will be remembered Saturday at Capo Beach Church.

Jim Siciliani and his son, Nicholas, died when their vehicle overturned on Interstate 40 on the night of June 28. They, along with Gregory Siciliani, were headed to Laughlin, Nev., to spend some time together on the river and return the family's boat to Orange County. All were wearing seat belts.

Gregory, 13, was in the backseat of the vehicle and was taken to a Las Vegas area hospital. He returned home a few days later and will remain in a back brace for about eight weeks because of a slight spinal fracture, a family member said.

The memorial service is to begin Saturday, 1 p.m., at the church located at 25975 Domingo Ave., Capistrano Beach.

Below are the notices provided by the family.

Jim Joseph Siciliani
, 47, of Rancho Santa Margarita passed away on June 28, 2013.  Born on July 7, 1965 in Anaheim, Jim graduated from UC Irvine with a bachelor's degree in psychology, however joined the family business as secretary of Woodbridge Glass/Werner Systems.  The family-based business of glazing contractor/window/manufacturer has been in business for more than 33 years. Jim was a devoted husband, son, brother and loving father. Jim loved spending his time with his family and friends traveling or simply being together. He was an enthusiastic NHL Ducks’ fan and season ticket holder.  You would often see him at a Ducks’ game cheering for them fiercely. Jim is survived by his parents, Vito and Virginia Siciliani; his loving wife of 19 years, Debbie; their three children, Gregory, Chelsie and Samuel; and his two brothers, Steve and Jeff Siciliani.

Nicholas Dean Siciliani, 16, of Rancho Santa Margarita passed away on June 28, 2013.  Born on January 9, 1997 in Irvine, Nick was a cherished son, devoted big brother, loving cousin and best friend. He had a tenderheartedness and compassionate way about him that always made you feel loved.  Besides enjoying NHL Ducks’ games with his Dad, Nick was passionate about football and was a starter on the varsity at Saddleback Valley Christian as a freshman, but missed his sophomore season because of an injury. The family has set up a school scholarship fund in his name, “N50 Siciliani Football Scholarship.” Please help us honor Nick’s name by helping someone else at his school that could benefit from a SVC football scholarship. Nicholas is survived by his loving mother, Debbie, and three siblings, Gregory, Chelsie and Samuel.
