Fracking creates billions of gallons of toxic, sometimes radioactive, waste water.
Fracking wells in the U.S. generated 280 billion gallons of toxic wastewater in 2012, according to a new report. That’s enough, as the Guardian notes, to immerse Washington D.C. in 22 feet of toxic water.
Fracking has come to California thanks to our legislature, and it is largely unregulated.
Between extended droughts, brought on by climate change, and a growing population, will we be a second Texas, with town after town running out of water so that a few can get richer claiming this will make us energy independent. If their claims of energy independence are true, then why are we exporting 40% of the natural gas recovered overseas?
