Elks Lodge Celebrates 43rd Anniversary
Mission Viejo / Saddleback Valley Elks Lodge No. 2444 (“Elks Lodge”) celebrated its 43rd anniversary of serving the communities of the Saddleback Valley with a backyard BBQ at the Lodge. Members’ families and past lodge presidents took part in the happy event, feasting on BBQ Tri-Tip, BBQ Chicken and all the fixings. Members donated a modest 1970’s price of $5.00 per person to charity for the dinner and were asked to bring desserts to top off the meal. The band, “Roll The Dice”, entertained on the Elks Lodge patio and generously donated their usual fee to Elks Charities. Past president Pat Martino conducted a remembrance to recently departed member J.J. Kiely, in honor of his years of service to the Lodge and dedication to Elks Charities.
The Lodge anniversary BBQ party was organized and BBQ prepared and served by the Past President’s Association of the Elks Lodge. Current Lodge president Jason Spence said of the event, “It’s a rare treat to see our members kick back and have an event just for themselves. They are usually busy working at events for or to raise funds for others. October will be another busy month with our fundraising Rally for Developmentally Challenged Children, our Halloween dinner dance for seniors and a big OCF-OCF Cancer Kids fundraiser.” Spence added, "...but that's what Elks do.”
“Elks Care, Elks Share."
