Elks Lodge Gives Over 4,000 Dictionaries to Third Graders

Mission Viejo / Saddleback Valley Elks Lodge No. 2444 (“Elks Lodge”) has completed distributing dictionaries to third graders in the Saddleback and the Capistrano Unified School Districts. The two Districts have 4,179 third grade students in 48 schools.

Pat Martino, past Elks Lodge president and dictionary project chairperson said, “Describing and presenting the dictionaries in person to the third graders at the various elementary schools is very rewarding. Each year our kids seem to be smarter than the year before. We hope they utilize these dictionaries throughout their future academic careers.”

The Mission Viejo / Saddleback Elks Lodge No. 2444, celebrating forty-four (44) years of service to the Saddleback Valley communities, is one of ten lodges in the Orange Coast District of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (BPOE) whose headquarters is in Chicago, Illinois. The BPOE is a charitable organization with a 146 year history of giving, “Elks Care, Elks Share.”
