Brush Fire Burns 2-3 Acres on La Novia

The fire, reported shortly before 10:30 a.m., was extinguished in about 30 minutes.

A fire burned several acres of brush Wednesday morning along La Novia Avenue.

Reported shortly before 10:30 a.m., the small blaze blackened between 2 and 3 acres at the hills behind the Mesa Vista neighborhood at the site of the future Distrito La Novia-San Juan Meadows project.

In near-90-degree weather, dozens of Orange County firefighters extinguished flames in about 30 minutes. Crews will remain at the scene throughout the afternoon to put out hot spots, fire spokesman Marc Stone said.
