Internet Sex Sting Nabs Capistrano Man

Shaw Bruce Warrington, 21, was arrested at a San Juan Capistrano Starbucks on Thursday after allegedly attempting to have sex with a 13-year-old by posting ads on Craigslist.

A 21-year-old San Juan Capistrano man who allegedly thought he was meeting a teenager and her mom for sex Thursday night at the Del Obispo Street Starbucks was behind bars this morning.

Investigators said they arrested Shaw Bruce Warrington in an Internet sting that began with a tip about a Craigslist ad seeking "a mom and/or her daughter to have sex." The person who posted the ad, now believed by authorities to be Warrington, wrote: "I really don’t mind what age … young or underage is cool like high school and below."

The tip led investigators with the Orange County Child Explotation Task Force to about 25 other postings allegedly penned by Warrington—10 specifically targeting minor females for sex, said Sheriff's Department spokesman Jim Amormino.

Investigators posed as a mother in numerous e-mail and Internet conversations with Warrington and arranged a meet-up with him at 9 p.m. Thursday at the Starbucks, Amormino said.

According to Amormino, Warrington believed he would be teaching the mom's 13-year-old daughter how to have sex.

"He arrived in an older white van which had a bed in the back of it," said Amormino. "Upon walking up to what he thought was the 13-year-old’s mother’s vehicle, he was arrested."

Warrington reportedly had a condom in his pants pocket.

His home on Calle Miguel was searched and he was booked into the Orange County jail on suspicion of meeting a minor for sexual purposes.

Warrington was being held on $20,000 bail, according to jail records.

The Orange County Child Explotation Task Force is made up of agents from Homeland Security, the Orange County Sheriff's Department and U.S. Postal Inspection Service.

Authorities believe there might be additional victims, who are asked to call 1-855-TIP-OCCS.
