Arresting Drunk Drivers & Wanted Men

SHERIFF'S BLOTTER: Selected reports from the San Juan Capistrano police dispatch services log over the past few days.

The calls represent what was told to a sheriff's deputy in the field by the radio dispatcher. The true nature of an incident often differs from what is initially reported. No presumption of criminal guilt or affiliation should be drawn from the information provided.

At 10:13 p.m. Wednesday, deputies arrested 32-year-old-man near the La ZanjaStreet-Camino Capistrano intersection. The man was reportedly detained for driving under the influence of alcohol and having a warrant out for his attest. He was taken into custody with no set bail amount.

At 5:01 p.m. Wednesday, a caller reported a traffic hazard in the 32200 block of Peppertree Bend. According to the report, a 30-foot-tall Peppertree had fallen down and was blocking traffic

At 1:26 p.m. Wednesday, deputies arrested a 43-year-old-man near the El Camino Real-El Horno Street intersection. According to the report, the man appeared to be driving on a suspended license and had a warrant out for his arrest. He was taken into custody, and bail was set for $15,000. 

At 2:08 p.m. Wednesday, deputies arrested a 32-year-old-woman for driving under the influence of alcohol near the Camino Capistrano-Del Obispo Street intersection. The woman had reportedly gotten into a traffic accident and hit a center divider in a silver Honda Accord. She was taken into custody and has since been released.

At 9:36 p.m. Tuesday, a caller reported a suspicious person in the 32200 block of Alipaz Street. The informant reported that a man came up to their daughter and asked her for a glass of water while she was at the mailbox. The man was later seen looking into the daughter’s bedroom through a window

At 11:39 p.m. Monday, a caller reported a disturbance near the Via El Socorro-Calle Santa Rosalia intersection. According to the report, several subjects were being very loud as they were jumping the fence to a community pool at the Casitas Capistrano. 

At 10:31 p.m. Monday, a caller reported a hit-and-run near the Ortega Highway-La Novia Avenue intersection. The informant was reportedly hit by a red truck that took off heading toward the I-5 Freeway on Ortega. 

At 2:44 p.m. Monday, deputies were called to investigate a person down in the 33900 block of Camino Capistrano. An elderly woman who was seen laying on the ground in an allyway near Doheny Park Road.
