Deputies Snag Robber After Car Chase

SHERIFF'S BLOTTER: Also, an influx of people running red lights, a man sitting in the middle of traffic and a group of teens defacing cars.

At 4:46 p.m. Tuesday Aug. 20, someone called the sheriff’s office to report a robbery in progress near the cross streets of Del Obispo Street and Camino Capistrano. The informant had followed the suspect’s getaway vehicle to the Southbound I-5 Freeway. The victim told deputies the robber had mentioned going to Mexico. Authorities alerted Border Patrol about culprit before eventually catching up with him in an underground parking garage. The 45-year-old man was arrested and is currently in custody with bail set at $50,000.

At 7:47 a.m. Tuesday Aug. 20, a caller asked for a patrol check near the I-5 and Junipero Serra Road. The called claimed multiple cars were running red lights because of traffic caused by the beginning of school.

At 10:41 a.m. Tuesday Aug. 20, an informant told deputies about a disturbance near the cross streets of Camino Capistrano and La Zanja Street. A man was reportedly sitting in the middle of the street.

At 10:23 p.m. Tuesday, a caller reported a disturbance in the 31700 block of Del Obispo Street. A group of teens was walking around a parking lot, kicking and defacing cars.
