Employee Chases Down Shoplifter

SHERIFF'S BLOTTER: Also, a drunk in cowboy boots at a bar? Imagine that!

An employee chased down a shoplifter, resulting in an arrest. At 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, a petty theft was reported in the 31800 block of Plaza Drive. A Rite Aid loss prevention employee followed the suspect out into the parking lot and across Camino Capistrano. Deputies were able to detain the suspect in front of Big Lots.  A 36-year-old woman was arrested and remains in custody in lieu of $20,000 bail.

At 12:02 a.m. Wednesday, a caller reported a drunken woman stumbling around near the Swallows Inn. She was described as wearing boots and jeans.

At 8:20 p.m. Tuesday, someone called deputies to report a suspicious person in the 27800 block of Horsehoe Bend. Deputies checked the perimeter of the home and made entry. The subject was reportedly hiding in a neighbor’s hedge across the street.

At 6:52 p.m. Tuesday, a call from the 2660 block of Calle La Bomba reported a stolen car. The caller said the car was last seen the week before in Laguna Hills.

At 6:20 p.m. Tuesday, deputies assisted firefighters in the 32700 block of Alipaz Street. According to the report, a man had passed out at the Rancho Del Avion Mobile Park.
