Father Arrested in Connection with Crash that Killed 5-Year-Old

The accident happened Saturday event. Deputies suspect Antolin Brito was driving under the influence.

Orange County Sheriff’s deputies arrested today a father in connection with the Saturday San Juan Capistrano accident that killed his 5-year-old daughter.

Antolin Brito is suspected of vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence, said Lt. Jeff Hallock of the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

The Orange County Coroner’s office has identified the 5-year-old as Yuliana Brito, was one of four children in the SUV, Hallock said Antolin Brito is the father or step-father of all the children in the vehicle, ages 2-11.

The accident occurred about 7 p.m. Saturday, Hallock said. Brito’s Ford Explorer was headed westbound on Junipero Serra Road when it went through the parking lot of the Silverado Senior Living complex, then went airborne after hitting a curb, Hallock said.

The vehicle came to a rest on an embankment behind the facility, he said.

Yuliana Brito was rushed to Mission Hospital. She was pronounced dead by 8:05 p.m., according to coroner’s officials. The other children suffered moderate injuries, Hallock said.
