Fire Closes Ortega Highway
UPATED: All lanes of traffic are now open east of Antonio Parkway.
UPDATED 3:30 P.M.: Ortega is now open in both directions as of 3:19 p.m.
A small brushfire closed the Ortega Highway on Monday afternoon about 2 miles east of Antonio Parkway.
The brush ignited after a small pick-up truck caught on fire, according to the CHP. The car parked on the shoulder but started to roll.

The quarter-acre blaze was extinguished by 1:30 p.m., and traffic was shut down on Ortega for almost two hours.
The closure was needed so that firefighters can remove a damaged tree that could threaten commuters, according to the CHP.
