Orange County firefighters snuffed out a small grass fire behind Costco today near the San Juan Capistrano-Dana Point city boundary line.

According to Battalion Chief Kris Concepcion, the first call came in at 1:23 p.m. and firefighters were on scene by 1:33 p.m. The fire was under control by 2:15 p.m.

“It was reported as a small ... grass [fire] that was wind driven,” Concepcion said.

The fire was near San Juan Creek, he said. The calls came in from residents on the Dana Point side.  Patch readers at the east end of San Juan Creek Road reported smelling it.

Concepcion did not have any totals of acreage burned because the fire was so small.
