Firefighters Put Out Small Fire Near I-5

Brush next to the roadway catches fire Saturday morning.

Firefighters quickly put out a small brush fire near Interstate 5 in San Juan Capistrano late Saturday morning, a fire dispatcher said.

Firefighters were dispatched at 11:01 a.m. to the fire next to the northbound 5 Freeway, near Camino Capistrano. They had the fire out within a few minutes of their arrival, he said.

In an unrelated fire, on the northbound freeway, about a mile way, firefighters put out a car fire near the Camino Capistrano on ramp to the northbound 5, a California Highway Patrol dispatcher said.

The CHP was notified of the car fire at 10:39 a.m., she said. No one was injured during either blaze, and they were not believed to be related.
